So I wanted to start trying out some memes. Iāve known about this one for a while but havenāt written a post on it yet. So todayās the day š

This top ten challenge was a little tough as I have a ton(!) of books on my TBR list. Iām also horrible at planning what I read unless I need to have a book read for a certain deadline. Iām usually a āwhatever Iām feeling at the momentā kind of chooser. So, hopefully I do get around to reading these this summer!

My Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR List!
1. London Falling by Chanel Cleeton
Iāve recently done a lot of talking about Chanel Cleetonās books over the past week. I really am excited for the release ofĀ London Falling, book two of Maggieās adventures in London. The two-book series falls into the NA contemporary genre. I found the first book to be written very well and Iām looking forward to see how Maggieās character develops even moreāespecially with her romantic interests.

2. Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig
So this book has been sitting on my Kindle for about a month now and Iām hoping to finally take time to read it. Iāve been swept up and distracted by some other releases and finds, but I really do want to read this. Iāve always been a HUGE Robin Hood fan and any story (or TV show) that relates (cueĀ Leverage).Ā Naturally, this story peaked my interest. It follows Willa, a girl who begins taking from the rich kids at Valley Prep and giving to the poor ones. However, things start to get complicated as the police begin investigation and her rich friends start seeking revenge. Add a little romance, and youāve got me hooked! Hoping to start this novel soon.

3. Rush by Eve Silver
I came across this YA recently. The description gives it aĀ Fire & Flood feel with a little of theĀ Hunger Games mentality. The story follows Miki Jones who is pulled from her life and into some kid of game. Miki and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. According to her attractive team leader Jackson Tate, what she and her teammates do in this game will not only determine their survival, but the survival of every other person on the planet. Itās the game/survival plot that drew me in. Although I wasnāt a hugeĀ Hunger GamesĀ fan, I was a big fan ofĀ Fire & Flood. So, I want to give this story a chance and see if Iāll like it or not.
4. Panic by Lauren Oliver
I had the awesome opportunity to meet Lauren Oliver at a local Barnes & Noble book signing during the Story Crush tour earlier this year (or maybe late last year?). Time is running together for me at this point. Anyway, I bought Panic there since it was being released the very next day (yes, we got first dibs!) and had Oliver sign it for me. I really enjoyed her trilogy and was looking forward to this stand-alone. Unfortunately, I havenāt had the chance to read it yet. This I am hoping to change this summer!Ā Panic, follows Heather and Dodge, two teens participating in the legendary game, Panic. This game, played by graduating seniors, poses high stakes with even higher payoffs. Both Heather and Dodge will face new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them. Theyāll learn that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most. I definitely cannot wait to delve into this one!

5. The Collector (A Dante Walker Novel) by Victoria Scott
I came across the beginning of this series after readingĀ Fire & FloodĀ by the same author. I really enjoyed that book and went looking into her other works. Although different from the genre ofĀ Fire & Flood,Ā The CollectorĀ sits comfortably in one of my favorite genresāparanormal. What also drew me to this novel was the main character, Dante. From the description it sounds like the story will be told from Danteās point of view and Iāve been trying to read more male POV books for a while. Just a little description: Dane Walker is one of hellās best soul collectors. To him, stealing souls is nothing personal. But Boss Man just gave him a new assignment: collect Charlie Cooperās soul within ten days. When Dante meets the quirky chick, Charlie, he realizes that this assignment will test his abilities as a collectorā¦and uncover emotions deeply buried. So obviously this novel has some romance undertones which also drew me in. Iām very much in love with the paranormal and paranormal romance genre. Iām very okay with admitting that š So naturally, Iām hoping to get around to reading this novel this summer!

6. Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay
I really enjoy fairy-tale retellings. Itās mostly likely due to the hopeless romantic in me š Anyway, I just finishedĀ CinderĀ earlier this yearāwhich was a lot better than I was expecting. I canāt remember how I came across this particular retelling, but itās been saved on my GoodReads TBR for a bit and Iām very much intrigued by it. The description goes as follows (abridged): In the domed city of Yuan, the blind Princess Isra, a Smooth Skin, is raised to be a human sacrifice whose death will ensure her cityās vitality. In the desert outside of Yuan, Gem, a mutant beast, fights to save his people, the Monstrous, from starvation. Isra want to help the cityās Banished people, second-class citizens despised for possessing Monstrous traits. But after she enlists the aid of her prisoner, Gem, who has been captured while trying to steal Yuanās enchanted roses, she begins to care for him and to question everything she has been brought up to believe. As secrets are revealed and Israās sight returned, Isra will have to choose between duty to her people and the beast she has come to love. This scream summer beach read for me š

7. Recklessly Royal (Sudden #2) by Nichole Chase
This is book 2 in Nichole ChaseāsĀ SuddenlyĀ series. I read book one,Ā Suddenly Royal,Ā earlier this year and really enjoyed it. These books are considered NA, but book one was more sweet than spicy. Book 2 follows Catherine, a princess whose spent all her life keeping her hands clean, her head down and most importantlyāmen at armās length. But now sheās tired of waiting for someone good enough to come along. Thatās when she sets her eyes on Davidāa friend of her brotherās new wife. But when David finds out just how innocent the crown princess really is, will he play the park of knight in shining armor or the dashing rogue? I canāt wait to see what happens between Catherine (Cathy) and David. Both were secondary characters in Suddenly RoyalĀ (Alex & Samās story). I enjoyed Cathy in the first book and Iām glad that she got her own story š
8. Salt (Salt #1) by Danielle Ellison
SaltĀ by Danielle Ellison popped on my radar while I started/signed-up for the 2014 Debut Author Challenge. Iāve recently been behind the challengeās goal of reading 12 debut authors and need to catch up during the summer.Ā SaltĀ follows Penelope, a witch who is a part of of a secret society protecting humans from demon attacks. But what the society doesnāt know is that she lost her powers when a demon took them after killing her parents. When sheās finally given the chance to join the elite demon-hunting force Penelope fears sheāll be found out and sent away. With her sisterās help, she can gain access to the information she needs to find the demon who stole her magic and get it back. Along the way she meet Carterāa boy she can borrow magic from. But he knows her secret. Suddenly, Penelopeās impossible quest becomes far more complicated. It seems like the demons have their own agendaā¦and theyāre far too interested in her. Since this novel screams paranormal it was an instant add to both my TBR list and my Debut Author Challenge wish. Hopefully, Iāll have this read in no time š
9. Hexed (The Witch Hunter #1) by Michelle Krys
This novel is also another Debut Author Challenge book. I added this quickly to my TBR and it just recently came out. So Iām hoping to pick up my copy soon. This novel is also paranormal centered. From the description it has a bit of a Buffy vibe, but without all the vampires. The story follows Indigo Blackwood (love that name!), a popular cheerleader with a football star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop and a nerd wonāt stop trying to be her friend but who wouldnāt want to be her? But then a guy dies right before her eyes and the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. Enter Bishop, a frustratingly sexy stranger who tells Indie that her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesnāt get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will dieāincluding her, because apparently sheās a witch too. Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indieās about to uncover the many dark truths about her lifeāand a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid. So yup, definitely picking this one up for the summer!
10. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
This book needs no introduction. I have it sitting in my Kindle, surprising buried by recent purchases. But I havenāt forgotten that itās there and I know Iām tremendously late on reading this and just on reading anything by Rainbow Rowell. Itās one of my goals to have this read this summer. I really want to dive into the cuteness that Iāve heard so much about that comprises this novel. Cath sounds like a delight and probably similar to me in many ways if Iām being honest. I canāt wait to explore this novel and read about Cathās adventures coming-of-age on her own!
