Late to the game but so excited to finally have all the new paperback versions of the Shadow Beast Shifters series by @jaymineve! They’re so pretty 🥹 && look wonderful on my Jaymin shelf (which is running out of room at the moment lol). Thank you, Jaymin, for this wonderful series! Had a wonderful time Tuesday night at @doylestownbookshop with my bestie, @stylemecourt! I LOVED getting to listen to and meet @andimjulie and @nishawrites! Nisha did a wonderful job leading the conversation and Julie’s responses!! — I laughed SO MUCH! Thank you both for your time, your humor, for the photos, and for the memory! I cannot wait to dive into Julie’s latest release: Student Union which contains some of my favorite tropes: friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, one bed, forced proximity, marriage of convenience, & set on a university campus. I know this is going to be such a fun ride! I also picked up Nisha’s romantasy: Illusions of Fire which interweaves mythology and Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Supernatural vibes (which im so here for!) Cannot wait to jump into this one as well and get my enemies-to-lovers & romantasy soul fed! I had the pleasure to attend a few recent book events hosted by the @doylestownbookshop over the past couple of weeks.The Doylestown Bookshop always has such a good array of authors coming through and I’m so grateful & lucky to be able to attend and also to have such an awesome indie bookstore nearby! First up:Of Course It’s Good by Jessica Secrest (@applesauceandadhd) on April 10 I cannot wait to try out some of these delicious receipts! It was so fun seeing and hearing from Jessica in person - she is just as funny as in her videos and so real and relatable! Next Up:The Mother-Daughter Book Club by Susan Patterson (@suesoliepatterson) and James Patterson (@jamespattersonbooks) on April 21.Last night’s conversation was a delight. James was incredibly funny and it was wonderful to hear from Sue and him describe their writing process and the inspiration behind some of the characters in this book. Considering they went to Lake Como for “research” for this book - I know the setting is going to be fun to dive into. I’m looking forward to buddy reading this with my mom. Overall some really lovely nights out celebrating books and hearing from some awesome authors! 💕📚 March Bookstore Visit!! 📚💕Had the chance this past March to finally visit @kissandtaleromancebookshop in Collingswood, NJ.This was my first ever visit to a romance bookstore and Kiss & Tale did not disappoint!! I was in literal book heaven and it took so much effort to not just buy everything in sight 🤣🤣 I adored the store’s layout and the fun photo-spot room that had Letters to Juliet playing on the TV. Being able to browse by romance genere was SO FUN and seeing Mr. Darcy made me smile. It felt like a store built just for me 🤣. Everyone was incredibly nice and I’m looking forward to visiting again! 🏬📚 February Indie Bookstore Visit 📚🏬I took inspo from @alltoo.wellread this year to visit a different independent bookstore each month. In February I stopped by @townebookcenter in Collegeville, PA & picked up some cute goodies including a blind date with a book (swipe to unwrap)! This bookstore is located in a fun shopping promenade with lots to do and the shop itself had a large array of books to choose from, including my favorite Pelican editions of Shakespeare’s works that I’m currently collecting - naturally had to pick one up! 🐲Fourth Wing Reading Update - Part 2 🐲Made it 50% of the way through so far in this video (3/8) and wanted to share my thoughts. Again - warning for spoilers! Hopefully not too many people will be spoiled since this book has been out so long but just putting out the warning anyway. So much happened by the time I got to the 50% mark and it was a wild ride! My love of fantasy was definitely getting fed though and I cannot wait to finish this one up. Friends! I’m finally reading Fourth Wing — crazy, I know! I can’t believe I haven’t picked this one up sooner but the hype around it was definitely chasing me away. Anyway, now I have a true deadline - Fourth Wing Night at the Flyers!! So naturally I have to actually read the book beforehand 😅😂. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to chronicle my reading journey of this one - my thoughts & predictions etc. I usually post this on the ⏰ app but I actually deleted my accounts on there and the app - so welcome IG to my bookish ramblings! ✨ Monthly reading wrap-up ✨Missed sharing out January’s epic 10 books read which I think is a PB for me, so I’m sharing it out now alongside with my February wrap-up. This year I’m really focusing on reading books I already own as well as trying to read more than just romance 😅. Some standouts:- The Witchlands series by Susan Dennard — the first two books in this series are a reread for me but I’ve forgotten how much I loved this world and high fantasy. - The Excitements by CJ Wray. This was an audiobook I borrowed from the library I think way back in 2024 and finally just finished. I kept starting and stopping it which honestly don’t know why because it’s such a great historical fiction with mystery, humor, and emotional relationships and character growth. Did I mention women spies? There are spies in this one! It’s also based on real life sisters. Anyway this was a great read and I’m glad I picked it back up and finished it this year. - For Every One by Jason Reynolds — this one is a super fast read. Honestly it was the message I needed at the time I read it and I’m glad I own this one so I can read it whenever I need to hear that message again.- Las Madres by Esmeralda Santiago — This one was so good! It centers around 5 women (3 mothers & two daughters), but more specifically the one mother - Luz - who grew up in Puerto Rico. There is a lot to unpack with this one and definitely a lot of trauma so please check the trigger warnings. Overall though I loved the intimate look / experience with Puerto Rican culture and the true strength of these women and their bond. - That Self-Same Metal by Brittany N Williams — this read was one I listened to via Spotify which was a first for me. It was a blind read as in I didn’t know what the book was about. It was such a fun listen! This has Shakespeare, first love/lust, and fae - but like darker fae. I loved June the FMC who was badass! There’s LGBTQIA+ representation in this as well as instances of overt racism (so please check trigger warnings). I cannot wait to pick up the next book in this series!#booksread #monthlybookwrapup #bookstagrammer #nicolelynnreads #bookworm
